# Status Saver

**Statuses vanish in 24 hours. Yours don't have to.**

Status Saver is a free Android app published by Banyan Studio. It lets you keep the
WhatsApp status photos and videos you actually want: view them full screen, save the
originals to your gallery, and share them onward — one tap each.

## What it does

### Browse the last 24 hours

Every status your contacts have posted, in one grid. Tap any photo or video for a
full-screen preview.

### Save in one tap

Originals land straight in your gallery — photos in `Pictures/Status Saver Images`, videos
in `Movies/Status Saver Videos`. Share them onward to any app from there.

### Repost to your status

Found one worth sharing again? Repost opens WhatsApp's own status composer with the photo or
video already attached — you post it from there. The app never posts anything on your
behalf; you confirm inside WhatsApp. Requires WhatsApp to be installed.

### Private by design

No account, no ads, and your photos and videos never leave your device. The app reads only
media already on your phone through Android's scoped storage — it does not request the
"all files access" permission. Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are collected
to improve the app and can be switched off at any time in
Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage data".

## How it works

Statuses appear in Status Saver once you have viewed them in WhatsApp itself — that is
when the media is downloaded to your phone. The app reads those already-downloaded files
through Android's Storage Access Framework, using a folder you grant access to once.

Status Saver does not download media from any server, does not connect to any messaging
service, and does not bypass any access control in any other app. Status media is
ephemeral: WhatsApp typically deletes it about 24 hours after you view it, and anything you
have not explicitly saved disappears with it.
